To Do Or Not To Do?....That Is The Question!

I asked my three year old, Tatum, to pick up her toys. She ignored me, so I asked her why she wasn't listening to me. Her response was: "I am listening, I'm just not doing what you say." I had to laugh but it stuck in my mind.

I realized that I do the same thing to God! I can think of several occasions (and I know there are more than just what I can think of) where I didn't do what God was asking me to do. It really struck a nerve, because I don't want to be an idle christian.

So my new goal is to be a better listener, and to be more of a "do-er". Who am I to ignore God? I'm thankful that God is more patient with me then I am with my kids!

Proverbs 1:24 says: I called, but you refused to listen: I held out my hand, but you paid no attention.

Since God knows better than me, I'm expecting great results! :)

Welcome to 2012! I hate new year resolutions. I figured that since I've never successfully kept a resolution (yet somehow feel obligated to make one)...that this year my resolution will be to gain weight, be broke, clean less, and NOT find a job. That way by the time I fail at keeping my new year resolution (usually happens around Jan 2nd) I will be doing pretty good. :)

Seriously though, I don't see why people put so much stock in making some big change come Jan 1st. Shouldn't everyday be a day for improving our lives? How about a new month resolution? Or new week? For me I'd probably be best off making a new hour resolution!

On my own I will fail, but with God all things are possible! (see Matt 19:26) So this year, I'm just gonna put my trust in God and see where he takes me. I am looking forward to a great year!
